Lip blush & how to choose your colour
A soft wash of colour that gives your lips back their definition and warmth, without ever looking like lipstick. Here is what lip blush is, who it suits, and how to choose a colour that flatters you.
At a glance
The essentials
What is lip blush?
Lip blush is a soft wash of colour worked gently into the lips by machine. Rather than sitting on top like lipstick, it enhances what is already there, restoring colour to lips that have paled, redefining a border that has softened, and evening out patchy tone. The result is your own lips looking healthier and more defined, the kind of finish that makes people think you simply have lovely lips.
Who it is for
It suits almost everyone. It is lovely on lips that have lost colour or definition over time, on naturally pale lips, and on anyone who wants a little colour that survives coffee, meals and the school run. Lips that are naturally darker or cooler toned can be worked with too, by tailoring the approach so the colour you choose reads true once it has healed.
Your lips, with the colour and definition gently turned back up.
How to choose your colour
Choosing a shade is easier than it sounds, because you are not doing it alone. There are three simple ways to land on the right one, and you can mix them:
- Bring in your favourite lip product and Megan will colour match to it.
- Show some inspiration pictures, which give a clear starting point to work from.
- Or simply have your natural colouring analysed, and go with the shade that flatters your complexion most.
Whichever route you take, the colour is always chosen to suit you, and it is worth knowing that lip blush heals softer than it first looks. The fresh result is the boldest you will see it, so the shade is judged with the healed, settled finish in mind.
What healing looks like
Lips heal quickly, usually around four days on the surface. They look bolder and a little dry to begin with, then pale before the colour gradually blooms back over the following weeks. There is a full walkthrough in the healing and aftercare guide.
Two sessions, one perfect colour
Lip blush is completed over two appointments. The first lays down the colour and shape, and the perfecting session at four to eight weeks fine-tunes the shade once it has healed and you can see exactly how it has settled. That second visit is included in the price, and it is what lets the final colour land exactly right.

How do I choose my lip blush colour?
There are a few ways. You can bring in your favourite lip product to be colour matched, show inspiration pictures to use as a starting point, or have Megan analyse your natural colouring and go with what flatters your complexion.
Will lip blush look like lipstick?
No. It is a soft wash of colour that enhances your natural lips rather than sitting on top like lipstick. You decide how subtle or defined it is.
Does lip blush suit darker or uneven-toned lips?
Yes. The approach is tailored to your natural lip tone so the colour you choose reads true once healed, including on lips that are naturally darker or cooler toned.
How long does lip blush take to heal?
